In 2025, the Center for Management and Strategic Studies (CGEE) reinforced its institutional articulation with various partners of the National System of Science, Technology and Innovation, through the holding of 97 events aimed at strengthening the sector. These initiatives involved specialists, public managers, policymakers, representatives of the productive sector, academia and civil society organizations, reinforcing CGEE's role as an institution that produces knowledge, evidence and solutions for public policies in S&T&I.
The events held addressed varied and highly relevant themes, ranging from sustainability and technological innovation to scientific diplomacy and strategic management. Among the highlights of CGEE's participation in these events are: the International Foresight Seminar; the 3rd International Conference on Climate and Development in Semi-Arid Regions (ICID III); the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30); the Workshop on Scientific Diplomacy towards COP30; and the International Workshop on Technological Foresight: ST&I Opportunities for BRICS Cooperation.
In a year with an extensive agenda concerning climate change and its impacts, CGEE's extensive presence at COP 30 reinforced the institution's role in the national and international coordination of science, technology, and innovation actors focused on building sustainable solutions to address the climate crisis. The conference also hosted the launch of the 55th edition of the Strategic Partnerships Journal, a publication dedicated to the climate agenda and the contributions of science, technology, and innovation to global climate governance.
With the support of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), the Center hosted a series of international meetings in Brasília (DF) focused on cooperation in foresight and science, technology and innovation policies among the BRICS countries. The International Workshop on Technological Foresight: ST&I Opportunities for BRICS Cooperation, an official event on the BRICS agenda under the Brazilian presidency, brought together delegations from the bloc's countries to deepen the debate on strategic themes such as artificial intelligence, climate emergencies, and the role of foresight in public policy formulation. The objective was to consolidate a collaborative document with joint recommendations to strengthen cooperation on this topic among the group's countries.
Regional experiences from Brazil gained prominence with the 3rd ICID, which brought together approximately one thousand participants. Under the executive coordination of CGEE, the international conference included experts from various countries to discuss sustainable development in semi-arid regions. ICID received 155 submissions of extended abstracts on topics such as climate and sustainable development in dry regions. Of these, 35 were selected for presentation during the program, and the remaining works were published in the conference proceedings.
Numbers
Throughout the year, CGEE interacted with 619 institutions, encompassing a wide diversity of sectors, such as universities, research centers, government agencies, innovative companies, international entities, and civil society organizations. Of this total, 39 institutions were identified as public government institutions, demonstrating strong links with state entities and the formulation of public policies.
The distribution of the activities promoted demonstrates consistent performance: 69 events were held in the first semester, a period marked by technical workshops, training sessions, and inter-institutional interactions supporting the formulation and monitoring of policies. In the second semester, 28 events were promoted, including national and international seminars, governance meetings, and scientific dissemination activities, maintaining the CGEE's continuous engagement with the various actors in the innovation ecosystem.
The CEO of CGEE, Fernando Rizzo, emphasizes that this diverse and highly representative network has been fundamental in expanding the impact of the Center's actions, consolidating partnerships and enabling highly relevant collaborative initiatives for the scientific and technological development of the country. “The diversity of institutions with which CGEE interacts has been fundamental in broadening the reach and effectiveness of the actions developed by the Center. This articulation strengthens the construction of collaborative initiatives and contributes directly to the improvement of public policies for science, technology, and innovation in the country,” states Rizzo.
