CGEE presents the HR Observatory for Science, Technology & Innovation at the CNPq national meeting.

The Center's participation highlighted methodologies for program evaluation and alumni follow-up, and also included a tribute to CNPq's 75th anniversary.

To produce data, information, and analyses on the training and professional integration of the Brazilian scientific and technical base, offering subsidies for the planning, formulation, and evaluation of public programs and policies in education, science, technology, and innovation. These are the main objectives of the Observatory of Human Resources for Science, Technology, and Innovation (HR for CT&I), presented during the 8th Meeting of Representatives of Scientific Initiation and Coordinators of Institutional Programs of Scientific and Technological Initiation of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq).

Held on August 10th and 11th at the Tuca Theater of the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP), the meeting brought together representatives from educational and research institutions from different regions of the country. During the program, the leader of the Observatory, Sofia Daher, presented the initiatives developed by the Center for Management and Strategic Studies (CGEE), with an emphasis on methodologies for program evaluation and alumni follow-up. The president of CGEE, Anderson Gomes, also participated in the meeting.

The presentation showed how the integration and analysis of different databases allows for tracking educational and professional integration trajectories. The goal is to produce evidence that contributes to evaluating the results of existing initiatives and strengthening policies and programs aimed at training new professionals for science, technology, and innovation.

As a permanent activity of CGEE, the Observatory gathers and makes available data on the academic and professional training of the national technical-scientific base and its relationship with the labor market. Its activities include institutional coordination for obtaining and integrating databases, the preparation of historical series and thematic studies, and the development of tools that facilitate access to and use of information.

One of the initiative's main products is the series "Brazil: Masters and PhDs ," dedicated to analyzing the training and professional integration of this group. The studies allow for monitoring aspects such as the evolution of qualifications, territorial distribution, areas of knowledge, occupations, economic sectors, and remuneration, generating evidence for improving training and employment policies for highly qualified professionals.

The program promoted the exchange of experiences and debate on the monitoring, evaluation, and strengthening of the Institutional Program for Scientific Initiation Scholarships (PIBIC), the Institutional Program for Initiation Scholarships in Technological Development and Innovation (PIBITI), the PIBIC in Affirmative Actions (PIBIC-Af), and the PIBIC focused on High School (PIBIC-EM).

The meeting was part of the celebrations for CNPq's 75th anniversary. On the first day of the event, the 23rd edition of the Outstanding Achievement in Scientific and Technological Initiation Award was presented, recognizing students and institutions participating in the Council's programs.

On that occasion, Anderson Gomes presented CNPq with a plaque in honor of the institution's anniversary and its contribution to Brazilian science. "Our recognition of a trajectory dedicated to the training of researchers, the strengthening of scientific institutions, and the development of the country," the plaque reads.
