The preliminary version will be launched on the 1st, in Boa Vista (RR), during a meeting of the National Council of State Foundations for Research Support.
Ao todo, foram elaborados 27 relatórios padronizados, contemplando os estados e o Distrito Federal, com base em um amplo conjunto de dados sobre titulação e emprego formal de mestres e doutores.
The Center for Management and Strategic Studies (CGEE) will release, on the 1st of next month, the preliminary version of the State Notebooks of the Masters and Doctors in the Federative Units series. The presentation will take place during the meeting of the National Council of State Foundations for Research Support (Confap), in Boa Vista (RR).
This publication is the result of an initiative by the Observatory of Human Resources for Science, Technology and Innovation (ORHCTI) of CGEE, developed to meet two strategic demands: the production of detailed indicators on the qualification and employment of masters and doctoral degree holders at the state level, and innovation in the processes of generating and updating data, with greater agility in making information available to support decision-making.
In total, 27 standardized reports were produced, covering the states and the Federal District, based on a broad dataset on the academic degrees and formal employment of master's and doctoral degree holders. Production was made possible through the use of the R Markdown tool and automated processes implemented by the observatory, allowing for faster information updates.
The leader of ORHCTI, Sofia Daher, highlights that this experimental version incorporates data referring to the years 2022 and 2023, expanding the series presented in the publication Brazil: Masters and PhDs 2024, which had wide repercussions and used consolidated information up to 2021. "The update was possible thanks to the adoption of new automation processes in the generation of reports, implemented by the observatory, which allow for greater agility in the production and availability of data," she states.
The initiative is also aligned with the efforts of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) to establish the Network of State Indicators of Science, Technology and Innovation (Riecti), integrating the set of products demanded by CGEE.
Validation by the Federal Units
In this stage, the notebooks will undergo content and data validation, with the aim of improving the reports and production processes. The expectation is to broaden the dialogue with the states and the MCTI (Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation), consolidating a continuous base of strategic information and enabling the expansion of the scope of indicators on masters and doctoral degree holders in the federative units.
The CEO of CGEE, Anderson Gomes, emphasizes that masters and doctoral degree holders play a central role in generating knowledge, innovation, and training qualified human resources. "In this context, the systematic monitoring of their academic qualifications and entry into the job market is fundamental for the development of strategies, territorial vision, and the strengthening of public policies for the scientific, technological, and social development of the country," he stated.
The series aims to provide support to public managers, educational institutions, funding agencies, and researchers, contributing to the monitoring and improvement of training and employment policies for highly qualified professionals in Brazil, considering regional specificities and the socioeconomic diversity of the Federation's units.
