The publication highlights the role of science, innovation, and international cooperation in building solutions to the global climate crisis.
The Center for Management and Strategic Studies (CGEE) will launch, during the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30), the 55th edition of the journal Strategic Partnerships, a publication dedicated to the climate agenda and the contributions of science and innovation to global climate governance. The launch will take place on November 11th, at 4 pm, at the Science House of the Emílio Goeldi Museum in Belém (PA).
The event will feature the participation of the CEO of CGEE, Fernando Rizzo, the Secretary of Policies and Strategic Programs of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), Andrea Latgé, and other authors.
With the theme "Brazilian Scientific Task Force for COP30," this special edition aligns with Brazil's presidency of the Conference, which proposed to the world the construction of a large global task force for climate action. More than an invitation, it is a collective and transformative call that seeks to unite governments, social movements, indigenous peoples, youth, traditional communities, the private sector, academia, and civil society around a common effort for a sustainable future.
According to the COP30 presidency, "the Mutirão is a continuous mobilization method that begins before, goes through, and continues beyond COP30. A proposal to transform the conference into a true landmark of civilizational change: the establishment of spaces for active listening, strengthening ties between the local and the global, and valuing the diversity of voices and knowledge."
Held in Belém, Pará, COP30 marks a decisive moment for Brazil and the world, boosting commitments and concrete actions for mitigation and adaptation to climate change. For the CEO of CGEE, the launch of Strategic Partnerships reinforces CGEE's commitment to science, innovation, and international cooperation as pillars of climate action and the transition to a sustainable development model.
“The launch of the journal during COP30 reinforces CGEE’s mission to produce and disseminate strategic knowledge, in convergence with the Conference’s three priorities: strengthening multilateralism, connecting the climate regime to people’s real lives, and accelerating the implementation of the Paris Agreement. By contributing to this collective effort, CGEE seeks to support public policies, assist decision-makers, and inspire cooperation between research institutions, international organizations, and the productive sector, expanding the integration between science, politics, and society,” said Rizzo.
RPE - The 55th edition of Strategic Partnerships aims to promote reflection and qualified debate on science, technology and innovation in the context of the climate agenda, addressing topics such as international cooperation, climate technology transfer, green finance and energy transition.
This collection presents a broad and integrated view of the challenges and opportunities of the Brazilian and international climate agenda. The articles discuss new financial instruments for capital mobilization and climate-related guarantees, the role of artificial intelligence in predicting extreme weather events and building sustainable technological models, as well as the contribution of science and diplomacy to strengthening national climate policies.
Topics such as a just and inclusive energy transition, territorial planning and living with drought and desertification, nature-based solutions in Brazilian cities, and sustainable production and research chains in the Amazon are also addressed. The edition also includes an analysis of the development and implementation of climate technologies, highlighting the importance of transforming climate ambition into measurable action and strengthening local capacities and international cooperation.
