These agendas mark the continuation of foresight cooperation among the BRICS countries, reinforcing Brazil's role in building joint strategies for innovation and sustainable development.
The Center for Management and Strategic Studies (CGEE), with the support of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), will hold a series of international meetings focused on cooperation in foresight and science, technology and innovation (ST&I) policies among the BRICS countries from October 28 to 30, 2025. The activities will be hosted at the CGEE headquarters in Brasília (DF).
October 28th marks the start of the “International Workshop on Technological Foresight: ST&I Opportunities for BRICS Cooperation,” an official event on the BRICS agenda under the Brazilian presidency, which will continue the virtual preparatory meeting held in April. The program will bring together delegations from BRICS countries to further discuss strategic themes such as artificial intelligence, climate emergencies, and the role of foresight in public policy formulation. The objective is to consolidate a collaborative document with joint recommendations to strengthen foresight cooperation among the group's countries.
On October 29th and 30th, the “International Foresight Seminar” will be held at the CGEE headquarters, bringing together representatives from BRICS, national and international experts, and invited institutions. The seminar, organized by CGEE, takes advantage of the presence of delegations who participated in the official workshop and expands the dialogue initiated on the 28th, deepening discussions on foresight, innovation, and future-oriented public policies for science, technology, and innovation.
To conclude the program, on October 30th a foresight activity will be conducted with the public to explore possible reflections on climate intelligence, seeking to integrate national and international actors in the debate on anticipating the future of the climate in the national and international context.
The project leader at CGEE, Marcelo Paiva, highlights the importance of debates on technological foresight and innovation for strengthening science, technology, and innovation policies in Brazil and internationally.
“The Center has a long history with this theme, and hosting these debates reinforces the Center's role as a space for international collaboration in science, technology, and innovation. These activities reaffirm Brazil's and CGEE's commitment to scientific, technological, and innovative integration among the BRICS countries and to the promotion of sustainable and inclusive development policies, based on evidence and a vision for the future,” he states.
