Estudo

The CGEE study is part of the book "Evidence-Informed Public Policies," which will be published by IPEA.

Analyses of the Public Perception of Science & Technology survey are presented in Chapter 2.

An analysis of the research "Public Perception of Science & Technology" developed by the Center for Management and Strategic Studies (CGEE) will be included in the book " Evidence-Informed Public Policies : knowledge, arrangements and capacities for democratic governance," which will be launched on May 26th by the Institute for Applied Economic Research (Ipea) during Evaluation Week. The book launch will take place during a panel discussion from 2 pm to 4 pm in the Paule Jeanne Auditorium at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) in Brasília (DF).

The coordinator of OCTI, Adriana Badaró, and the observatory's technical advisors, Marcelo Paiva and Fábio Augusto, jointly wrote the second chapter of the publication, titled " Public Perception of Science & Technology in Brazil: Results and Implications for Public Policies."

In this chapter, the authors present the main results of the 2023 edition of the Public Perception of Science & Technology survey and discuss its implications for strengthening evidence-informed public policies. It also reports how the indicators produced by the survey can be used not only as a reflection of public opinion, but also as strategic input for the formulation and evaluation of scientific, technological, and educational policies. At the same time, the text discusses the institutional and symbolic challenges involved in mediating between scientific knowledge and political decision-making, highlighting the importance of understanding science as a public good that requires translation, dialogue, and social trust.

At the launch event, there will be a lecture by Natália Massaco Koga and Pedro Lucas de Moura Palotti, both from Ipea; moderated by Luseni Aquino (Director of Diest/Ipea), in addition to the panelists Marisa von Büllow (University of Brasília (UnB)) and Dandara Rudsan (Instituto Fogo Cruzado).
