CGEE participates in Amazon Week Paris and discusses financing and policies for the Amazonian bioeconomy.

The program brought together representatives from governments, financial institutions, research centers, civil society organizations, and scientific networks.

On the 5th, CGEE participated in the Amazon Week Paris program, an event held at the Brazilian Embassy in Paris and dedicated to discussing the Amazonian bioeconomy, innovation, financing, and sustainable development. The initiative was a collaboration between CGEE, the Climate and Society Institute (iCS), and other partner organizations, bringing together representatives from institutions such as AFD, KPTL, Plataforma Cipó, and the Sustainable and Inclusive Financing Program for the Amazonian Bioeconomy (Amabio). The program included speeches by Ambassador Ricardo Neiva Tavares and the President of COP30, Ambassador André Corrêa do Lago, who addressed the opening session.

Representing CGEE, project leader Beatriz Vilela participated, at the invitation of Amabio, in the roundtable “From discourse to implementation: financing the Amazonian bioeconomy in practice,” which addressed challenges and opportunities for expanding financing to the sector in the Amazon region. In her speech, Vilela discussed the main structural bottlenecks that still limit the flow of investments to the sector, as well as ways to transform the growing alignment between governments, financial institutions, research centers, and international organizations into permanent capacities to support the sustainable development of the Amazon.

The leader also participated in a session on experiences in bioeconomy policies, held in partnership with iCS, alongside researcher Mariam Fofana from the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations (Iddri). On that occasion, she presented CGEE's trajectory in this area, highlighting publications produced by the Bioeconomy Observatory (Obio), with emphasis on the Amazonian Bulletin, as well as the Center's recent contributions to the development of the National Bioeconomy Development Plan (PNDBio) and the progress of the Green Transition in Industry - Bioeconomy Opportunities project.

Throughout the program, experts, investors, public sector representatives, civil society organizations, and scientific networks discussed solutions to expand investments, strengthen sustainable production chains, and promote development strategies capable of reconciling income generation, forest conservation, and the appreciation of Amazonian socio-biodiversity.
